What To Bring

  • Your awesome self!
  • Your surfboard — we’ll likely be surfing excellent longboard waves, so a longboard, or possibly mid-length, is best. Soft top boards are available at no cost if you don’t want to travel with yours.
  • Wetsuit and booties — Northern California water temps are cold. You’ll probably want a 4/3 wetsuit, plus booties for the cold, and to navigate the rocks/reef getting in and out. Wetsuit rental available at no extra cost.
  • Swimsuits, if you wear them under your wettie — bring at least two unless yours is especially quick drying
  • Changing poncho and/or beach towel
Transportation (we can cart your board to the breaks, but our insurance doesn’t allow us to carry people) — if you’re carless, we’ll help you connect with other attendees to carpool
  • Warm clothing — the NorCal coast can be chilly all year round. You’ll want a couple of layers for evenings round the campfire
  • Warm weather clothing if the forecast says it’s gonna be warm
  • Comfy hiking shoes or boots for hiking
  • A rain jacket — Murphy’s Law says if you don’t bring one, it will rain
  • Sleeping bag and pad if you have one — we’ll provide tents, and sleeping bags if you need one, but we recommend that you bring your own if you do have one.
  • Any toiletries you might want
  • Sunscreen!
  • Your outdoor voice — cheering each other on is highly encouraged!

FAQ

What if it rains?

If it looks like it’s going to rain all week, we’ll reschedule. If there’s a possibility of a day or two of rain, we’ll adjust the schedule — you’ll still get a full 5 days of learning and adventure.

What if it’s there’s no surf?

Even if its flat, the show will go on. Spring is generally a consistent time of the year, producing both lingering NW winter swells and early S summer swells, so it’s a great time to learn about and surf different swell types. We can’t guarantee a great swell, but we can guarantee that you’ll learn a lot no matter what.

What if there’s a giant swell?

If the swell is big, we’ll adjust the schedule, class topics, and/or surf locations to make sure everyone is surfing in safe conditions for everyone.

What if I have an emergency and can’t attend?

We have a strict no-refund policy. That said, we’ll do our best to find someone to take your spot so you’re not out of pocket. We recommend getting travel insurance to cover your costs in the event you are unable to attend.
